Áurea María Sotomayor-Miletti, professor in the 西班牙语言文学系 and 性别，性和妇女九游会论坛研究计划 in the Kenneth P. Dietrich艺术与科学学院， received the prestigious Casa de las Américas Prize in the essay category. 

Established in 1959, the award is considered the oldest and most coveted prize in literature in Latin America—much like the Pulitzer Prize in the U.S., according to Sotomayor-Miletti.
